PADRES Contra El Cáncer is committed to improving the quality of life for children with cancer specifically in the Latino community. PADRES focuses on the Latino community because if the higher risk of complication with medical issues that arise from language barriers, socio-economic challenges, and limited access to community resources. The non-profit was established in 1985 after research studies conducted in the United States by the American Cancer Society concluded the Latino Community was lacking the support it needed to overcome medical challenges. The organization had assisted more than 8,300 child cancer patients and their extended families to date.
